BinTolk BT7700 Walkie Talkie

The BinTolk BT7700 walkie talkie is a radio that has been slightly overshadowed by the sheer amount of transceiver radios that are very similar but made from different brands. This model reminds me of both the BJ-7800 and BJ-8300 model radios from Bajeton. Both of which are almost identical and are so much like the BinTolk BT7700. From the screen to the frequency range and modes. All have “super mode” available and a choice between standard and Bluetooth models etc. So as you can see, they are so similar, just made by different companies all using the same or very similar internal electronics.

The standard model comes without Bluetooth App programming and does not have the noise reduction feature. Both models do have super mode and a spectrum analyzer. The frequency range is also slightly different. But typically they each go from 18MHz – 999MHz [with slightly different gaps in the range]. The airband is covered but for safety reasons the user can only receive signals [RX] not transmit [talk / TX]. Of course, all the major HAM frequencies are also covered, 2 meters, 70cm, 6-meter, and local PMR446 etc.

On the CB frequencies the user can receive signals and talk back if the other side is within range, which is great. However, do be aware that for this you may have to upgrade the antenna from the standard antenna to one that specifically covers 27MHz. If you’re new to this information and just getting into amateur radio rest assured, CB antennas are really cheap. You might be able to pick up some CB chat with the standard antenna but it won’t be as good on CB radio as an antenna that’s made for 27MHz.

All in all the BinTolk BT7700 is a really good two-way radio for the price. Lot’s of these cheaper radios have been quite surprising in how well they actually work. You would think that because they are cheap they are no good. But most of the time its the opposite. Yes, there are still some radios and brands that are terrible, but BinTolk certainly isn’t one of them.

The price difference between the standard model and the Bluetooth model with noise reduction is so small, that it’s makes sense to get the Bluetooth model. They are excellent analogue radios for the price, with 5 stars out of 5 stars from all but one of the reviewers. And he gave it a 4.

Takk.

In English: This person asked about firmware updates for this radio. There are some available at the link above on the official Bintolk website.

I also mentioned about whether there is a total replacement firmware available for this radio. I don’t think there is. And If there is I have never seen it.
