Quality Vs value for money is excellent when it comes to the Baofeng AR-152 radios. You get two radios for the price. And that includes two tactical antennas, 2 normal antennas, 2 adapters, 2 batteries, 2 manuals and one programming cable. It’s a fantastic deal for such an excellent pair of radios. You can of course get 1 radio if you don’t need two, but the price difference between the pair and buying one radio isn’t that much. So it makes a lot of sense to go for the 2 pack bundle. Although I don’t think the two-pack comes with a pouch. The single radio does I believe.
When it comes to the military label attached to the AR-152, this isn’t just some gimmick, the Baofeng AR-152 is tough, and probably the closest thing you will find to military grade radios that are currently being sold to the public world wide at this price. There are other radios like the L3Harris Falcon III which are also excellent, but they are nowhere near as available for the general public to purchase like the AR-152’s are.
They are built to withstand tough conditions. The shell is made of ABS Plastic (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), which is a very durable thermoplastic polymer. Making the Baofeng AR-152 one of the strongest radios from Baofeng. Great for harsh conditions.
Some users compare the AR-152 to the smaller Baofeng UV5R, but in a different body and with many enhancements. Such as a larger, easier to read screen in various lighting conditions, very good speaker / mic clarity on transmit and receive and a much longer battery life.
Being such a big two-way HAM “walkie talkie” radio it won’t be ideal for all people and all needs, such as an everyday carry radio. But for that there are a whole host of smaller and very capable radios from Baofeng to choose from. Models like the UV-5R 8W, GM-15 Pro 8W and the K5PLUS Tri Band are great choices. The AR-152 is for those who need a solid, potentially more reliable option for extreme situations. Hunters, campers, hikers who go deep into the wilderness, people who live in extreme cold / desert / remote areas, preppers who want something dependable if the power goes down or SHTF.
Frequency range:

Reviews
Reviews are mostly excellent across the board for the AR-152. Most reviewers are impressed by not only what’s included in the package deals, but also the basic performance of the radios. The speaker, PTT, keypad, display, channel / VFO modes, repeater connectivity, battery life, signal reception, all considered excellent.
There are few owners that wish the radio had more than 128 channels. And I agree. In 2025 there are many radios that now have thousands of channels at there disposal to save to. So yes, there should have been more channels available. But 128 channels is still decent enough.
Countries to buy
Available to buy on Amazon in the USA, UK and Canada. But also available worldwide from AliExpress. Or, if you’re looking for the Pro model that has the upgraded features such as Bluetooth, GPS and a colour screen, it can be found for sale here.
