Before you get your hopes up, this is a clone of the Harris Falcon Three hand held radio transceiver. It’s not an original, and the level of encryption isn’t the same. A genuine Harris Falcon III radio costs a lot of money, and they seldom come up for sale all that often to the public. So for radio enthusiasts who want to own the Harris Falcon 3, this TCA AN/PRC-152a is the next best thing.

If you’re looking for something cheaper that still has the military look and feel, there’s also the Baofeng AR-152. And while it is a good two-way radio for the price, it’s nowhere near as robust as the Harris AN/PRC-152a reproduction clone. For one, the Baofeng AR-152’s body is made of plastic. The TCA AN/PRC-152a’s body is a tough, solid Aluminium alloy.

TCA AN/PRC-152a frequency range [radio is all analogue – no digital]: FM 78MHz – 108MHz, AM 106MHz – 136MHz [airband], VHF 136MHz – 174MHz, UHF 400MHz – 480MHz.

There are two versions of the TCA AN/PRC-152a radio available. One that has GPS and one that doesn’t. Both come with some nice accessories, including a high capacity battery, charger, Keypad Display Unit [KDU] etc and are housed in a well-fitted carry case. The manual is said to be quite confusing due to its poor translation from Chinese to English.

But there are many review videos on YouTube that go through all the “how to” features step by step, so it shouldn’t be very hard to find a quick solution to what you are trying to achieve. All in all the TCA AN/PRC-152a is a very nice, functioning replica of the Harris Falcon 3. And you’d be hard pressed to find similar design for the same money that looks identical to the Harris Falcon 3.

There is the TRI PRC 152, which is very similar to the TCA 152a and costs around the same. Some people prefer the TCA, while others prefer the TRI model. My opinion is that the TCA is the slightly better radio. But the choice is yours.
